Congratulations for the Lebanese people

I congratulate the Lebanese people on the results of yesterday’s legislative elections. Before you start judging me, I’m not pro-Michel Aoun, I am an independent, but yesterday’s elections proved that the Lebanese people are capable to act contrary to expectations, and that they still have the choice and the capability to practice its right of accountability. Yesterday’s elections was a message to all Leaders who underestimated the Lebanese people and treated them as a herd.

We witnessed yesterday a truly democratic battle in Mount Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley. It was a battle between two versions of the opposition. General Michel Aoun’s version, who returned to Lebanon a month ago after 15 years of exile, against the version of the “enemies of the past” coalition’s, the Druze leader Walid Joumblatt, the “moderate” Christian coalition Kornet Chehwan, the Future Movement of the Sunni leader Saad Hariri and the ex-Christian militia the Lebanese Forces. The battle ended with the victory of the first party leaded by Michel Aoun, a National leader who aims to implement several reforms and based his electoral campaign on the battle against corruption.

Let’s hope that Michel Aoun, who is expected to win more then 20 seat in the parliament, will implement the program he pledged in his campaign. I hope that we will not to be disappointed.
